Chinese translation master wins international honor

The International Federation of Translators (FIT) has awarded Chinese translation master Xu Yuanchong the prestigious “Aurora Borealis Prize.”

The 93-year-old is the first Asian to win the award since it was set up in 1999.

The Aurora Borealis Prize for Outstanding Translation of Fiction Literature, known as the top prize for translators, is conferred every three years.

In his acceptance speech, Xu said that the prize showed the FIT’s high regard for Chinese literature translation.
